Math Kicks Academy ("the app", "we") is a maths-practice game built for children and managed by their parent or guardian. We take children's privacy seriously and collect as little data as possible. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.
Who this app is for
The app is designed for families. A parent or guardian creates the account; children play under profiles inside that account. Account creation, settings and deletion are protected behind a parent gate (a maths question or a 4-digit PIN) so young children cannot change them on their own.
What we collect
From the parent (account holder):
- Email address — used only to sign in and to recover the account.
- If signing in with Google, the email address associated with that Google account. We do not receive your Google password.
About each child:
- A first name (or nickname) chosen by the parent.
- A year level (Kindergarten to Year 6).
- Game progress: stars, scores, rewards and practice history.
We never collect a child's surname, date of birth, photo, precise location, contact details, or any advertising identifier. Questions are generated on the device.
Usage analytics
We use Google Analytics for Firebase to record anonymous, aggregate gameplay events (for example, "a Year 3 stage was completed with 2 stars"). These events never include a child's name, profile ID, or age, and are filtered through a fixed whitelist of non-identifying fields before being sent.
Advertising features, Google Signals, and ad-personalisation are disabled. We do not show ads and do not use data for advertising.
A parent can turn analytics off entirely in Parent Settings → "Allow anonymous usage analytics".
How data is stored and protected
-
Data is stored with Google Firebase (Authentication and Firestore),
hosted in the
australia-southeast1(Sydney) region. - Security rules restrict every family's data so it can only be read or changed by that signed-in parent's account.
- Traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
- We do not sell data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own purposes.
Deleting your data
You are in control of your data and can remove it at any time:
- Remove a child: Parent Settings → the child's Remove button. This permanently deletes that child's profile and progress.
- Delete the whole account: Parent Settings → Delete account. This permanently deletes the parent account, every child profile, and all associated data.
You can also request deletion by email. See our Account & Data Deletion page for full instructions.
Children's privacy & legal basis
Because the app is intended for children, we operate on a data-minimisation basis and rely on parental consent, given when the parent creates the account and adds a child. We aim to comply with the Google Play Families policy, the Australian Privacy Principles, the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), and the EU GDPR-K where applicable. We do not knowingly collect more than the minimal data described above.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify parents in the app.
